In high voltage applications, to prevent electric breakdown, high voltage high resistance resistors with high withstand voltage strength and high working voltage are generally used. The value of withstand voltage here is distinguished from the working voltage, not calculated by Ohm’s law, but by the unit power of the resistor surface area and resistor body material. Due to unique manufacturing process and structure, high-voltage high-resistance resistors can withstand high operating voltages or large impulse voltage without resistor failure, such as electric breakdown or flashover. There are conductive and non-conductive particles in the resistor, the non-conductive particles are easily activated to form a parallel resistance in high voltage condition, resulting in a non-linear relationship between the voltage and current.
